Clemens Maria Fuchs was born in Vienna, Austria (March 11th, 1982). While in school his father, Michael Fuchs, had trained him in the skills of old master drawing and painting.

In 2001 he moved to Florence, Italy, where he studied drawing and painting. He attended the Charles H. Cecil Studios where he was trained in the art of painting portraits and the human figure. Essential to this training is the painting from life and the use of the Sight-Size Technique.

After completing his studies in Florence, he moved back to Vienna to work on commissions. He also presented his work in numerous exhibitions in Austria, Germany, Italy and the United States.

In 2008, he returned to Florence to teach portraiture and figure painting at the Charles H. Cecil Studios.

In 2012, in collaboration with his father, Michael Fuchs, Clemens Fuchs worked on an altarpiece for the seminary church of Guatemala City, Guatemala. In 2015 he worked on a mayor altarpiece of St. Agnes of Bohemia for the baroque church of St. Carlo Borromeo (Karlskirche) in Vienna. In 2016 he painted the archbishop of Prag, Dominik Cardinal Duka OP.

In 2020 Clemens Fuchs started working on a serious of six large altar pieces for the church of the True Cross at the abbey of Heiligen Kreuz near Vienna. He also redecorated the modern interior of the church in a more classical fashion. He completed his work in September 2023.

Clemens is especially inspired by 16th and 17th century oil painting. Masters such as Tititan, Tintoretto, Guido Reni, Anton Van Dyck and Rubens are constant influences in his sacred and portrait work.

He continues his work in Vienna on large scale portrait and religious painting.

Clemens Maria Fuchs frequently teaches various workshops and returns to Florence where he continues teaching portrait painting and figure drawing at the Charles H. Cecil Studios.

His work can be found in private and public collections in Europe, the United States, and Latin America.
